Private William Henry Christman (1843-1864)

William Henry Christman (1843 - 11 May 1864)

The First Soldier buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. He served with Company G, 67th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. PVT Christman died at Lincoln General Hospital, Washington D.C. on 11 May 1864 and was buried in Arlington on 13 May 1864. His was buried before the "official" order establishing the cemetery was actually signed by the Secretary of War on 15 June 1864. PVT Christman lies in Section 27 in what was originally the Lee Rose Garden near the Lee-Custis Mansion.

PVT Christman is my 3d cousin 4 times removed.
